Although the final score seems rather grim, Sherwood played some good football this morning against an excellent Bulwell team who won the league last season. The first half was nearly twenty minutes in before Bulwell scored and Sherwood then let their focus lapse sufficiently to end the half 8-2 with Captain Kel keeping us in the game.
The second half saw Bulwell storm ahead to 13-2 before Ryan knocked home a cracking goal set up for him by Jack and Kel – these three showed the makings of a fine team this morning. Bulwell kept up the pressure to knock 4 more in but Ryan scored a second as the game head for the close to give a finishing score of 17-4.
But there were plenty of magical moments. Miciah was fantastic in defence, Thomas was as consistently good as we have come to expect, Alan and Nico were excellent in midfield and both goalies, Patrick and Lex, kept out as many as they let in. Every member of the team contributed to a match that showed some promising play and emerging partnerships.
