Sherwood FC 1 – 2 Burton Joyce
What an incredibly close match this one was. Sherwood dominated for the first fifteen minutes with some nifty passing. Kel hit the crossbar but it was Burton Joyce who put the first goal away after 26 minutes.
The second half started with a magic Sherwood moment. The whistle blew, Kel kicked off, 3 passes later the goal was in the back of the Burton Joyce net. The supporters went wild!
It was then backwards and forward with Sherwood seemingly in the ascendant. Jack had a near miss (a goal mouth scramble that just went wide of the post), Kel had another chance. However, the match changed when Kel got injured and Thomas suffered an injury to his ankle. Burton Joyce got back into their stride and, just minutes from the end, pushed themselves ahead with their second goal. Sherwood kept on pressing right to the end, with Lewis trying a long range shot.
It was a players vote for Man of the Match with Tyler nudging in ahead of Ryan. Well done to everyone for a tight tense match with a glut of Thomas’s.....
