Sherwood FC 1 – 8 Carlton Town

New signing Keaton made his mark today and was duly awarded the Man of the Match trophy for excellent work in both defence and mid-field. We certainly needed it. Carlton Town are currently 3rd in the league and focused on securing promotion back to league two where they were last season. With a scarily large squad, they piled the pressure onto Sherwood in the first half, belting in five goals before the whistle blew. Nico had the only serious Sherwood chance although there was plenty of action mid-field. Luke had a superb match and made another of his trademark clearances off the line – a few minutes after both Patrick and Exo had sustained fortunately temporary injuries in a goalmouth scramble.

Despite our lack of subs (goalie Matt played outfield again – this time taking Jordan’s place up front), Sherwood managed to up the pace in the second half. They couldn’t stop Carlton pushing ahead to 7-0 but some golden runs allowed Exo to tap a nifty goal in from a Kel pass. Soon after Keaton had a near miss but the final goal went to Carlton to make it  8-1.
