Sherwood FC 1 – 9 Clifton All Whites

Challenge Shield Match

On a cold afternoon the Sherwood team met at a muddy pitch to play Clifton All Whites in the Challenge Shield.

Sherwood were under pressure with Clifton All Whites attacking from the ref’s whistle. Lex made a good save early on and our defence was strong. Clifton All Whites started to break down our defence scoring early on and it took until about 10 minutes before the half time whistle for Sherwood to wake up and start their lovely passing game. There was a great run from Brandon who passed to Kel but unfortunately he just struck it past the post. With great link up play between Miciah and Kel there were plenty of chances for Sherwood to attack but at half time it was 4-0 to Clifton.

The second half saw Alfie come on, and it was clear we had missed his great runs last week and in the first half, as he was soon running rings round his defender on the left wing culminating in a great goal. This boosted Sherwood’s confidence a little and they started to press more but again chances were missed.

The final score was 9-1 to Clifton All Whites so Sherwood now need to focus on their league matches. Come on Sherwood!
