Sherwood 2 – 4 Edwalton Cavaliers
The fight back continues with Sherwood having their best result this afternoon since the first game of the season against Attenborough (3 all). We may have lost but we gave the Blues a stern test and had the ability to win. Roll on the replay.
And what about Nico?! He deservedly won the Man of the Match award, chosen by both the players and the referee. He just didn’t stop running and was an absolutely essential part of the defence – and in the first half he nearly scored a goal too. Keep eating your greens Nico.
But Neil could be pleased with everyone today. Finn scored yet another goal with Kel blasting home the second. It could be tight between them come the end of the season – come on Kieran, Alfie and the rest – you need to catch up. Patrick and James were both excellent in goal, letting in just 2 each but deflecting many more. The defence and midfield were much stronger today although two weaknesses were still in evidence: Ep shouted himself hoarse making sure Sherwood didn’t play Edwalton onside while there was still that tendency to stand still.
No match next week but then back to the grindstone. Well done today Sherwood, you really gave your supporters something to shout about. Can we have a point or three next time?
