Sherwood FC 1 – 6 Holy Spirit
Unfortunately the re-energising anticipated after our narrow defeat by Attenborough didn’t materialise this morning and Sherwood left it far too late to seriously challenge Holy Spirit for the points. Our old rivals were all over us in the first half and it was as much as the defence could do to keep the score down (with some great saves from Patrick).
Alfie did get one goal back for Sherwood but the required hat-trick was not to be.
Sherwood picked themselves up for the second half and certainly had more of the chances. Holy Spirit MaDs were heard to comment that a little more accuracy and we would have been back to 5-all. But the accuracy was not there and Sherwood finished with a frustrating 6-1 defeat, giving Holy Spirit both the ‘6 pointer’ and the Trent Valley Cup.
Well done Holy Spirit. Buck your ideas up Sherwood – let’s get a few points from the remaining 2 games of the season.
