Sherwood FC 3 – 3 Lowdham Colts

Luke nearly didn’t get his second glory moment of the season this morning as our 11am kick-off at Caythorpe was cancelled (frozen pitch), fortunately to be replaced by an 11.40 kick off at the Carrington home ground. And it didn’t start that well anyway with some lack lustre play that allowed Lowdham to get the first goal after seven minutes. They must have thought they were in for a repeat of their defeat of us last time.

But it wasn’t to be.  By half time we were 2-1 up after an equaliser from Kel and a fab 2nd goal from Luke ‘boy wonder’ Lawson. Then Trevor appeared.........Fortunately he responded positively to the shouting of the MaDs and left.

Lowdham equalised soon into the second half and then went one ahead, but Sherwood didn’t let it get to them. They put their heads down, stuck at it (or slid at it) and, after a brilliant goal-line clearance from Jordan (this is getting a habit for him), Kel banged in another equaliser.  And that was the final score: 3 all.

It was a great match – one that became more and more exciting and one that saw every member of the team demonstrating improved skill and determination.

Good to see our fan base growing (nice one, or is it two Alfie).

Words from our sponsor:  A goal line clearance is as good as a goal!

And remember – when you finally get to wear the away strip, you’re expected to play like River Plate.

Man of the Match:  Luke
