Sherwood 2 – 12 Lowdham Colts
Well, we didn’t win but, with a squad of only 11, we put up a good fight and Neil could genuinely praise the lads afterwards for their efforts. For a time in the second half we were even down to 10 men as Captain Jordan struggled to combat illness. The lack of available substitutes meant that everyone present had to dig deep to find their extra reserves of stamina. This they did. At half-time the score was 5-2 to Lowdham and Sherwood were holding their own. We had won 2 penalties and were enjoying ourselves. Tired legs started to show in the second half as Lowdham refreshed their squad and began to outpace us. But we kept battling on and only towards the end of the match did the goals start to pound in.
Well done everyone: Jordan, Thomas, Nico, Harp, Finn, Leon, Connor, Luke, Kel, Jack and Patrick. You put in some gutsy performances and showed some ‘true grit’.
