Sherwood FC 3 - 1 Riverside FC
Tensions were high today as Sherwood played Riverside in their second to last game of the season. Our last two results had not gone as expected so this was a game we had to win.
Sherwood started well and pressed well. It was obvious from the start of the game that Sherwood were in the mood to score and in the first 10 minutes there were chances from Luke, Kel and Alfie. As Sherwood continued with the pressure there was great link up play between Brandon and Kel and it was 1-0 to Sherwood. The boys did some great passing in the first half with great through balls from Jack, Connor and Kel but unfortunately the finishing wasn’t there.
Nico was very strong in defence with very little getting past him today and the defence showed how strong they were. Lex took a knock to the hand just before half time which meant Patrick coming on a little earlier than expected. Sherwood continued to press and won a corner which Kel coolly finished in the corner to make it 2-0. Riverside fought back and at half time it was 2-1.
The second half started where Riverside left off and they were quickly putting pressure on Sherwood. Kel’s new ‘wonder’ boots were on fire today and he had several chances on target but the Riverside keeper played very well and did some great saves.
However, Kel was able to kill the game off with a great finish from a super through ball from Jordan to make the final score 3-1 to Sherwood.
