Sherwood Red 3 – 1 Riverside FC
This was another game where Sherwood had to work hard to get full points. Like Bingham, Riverside appear to have strengthened their squad which made it tough going.
Tyler scored the first goal against Riverside about 10 minutes in. However, most of the first half was spent attacking the Riverside goal without effect – innumerable strikes that either went wide, over the top, or into the capable arms of the opposition’s goalie. The second half started with a trademark Sherwood goal from the kick-off (16 seconds in, could this be a new record?). This put us 2-nil ahead but Riverside fought back to make it 2-1. It was a much more even half with end to end play. Eventually Sherwood got their third. Kel played the ball in and as the keeper dived to pick it up, Tyler struck, deflecting the ball into the goal past him.
Jordan was Man of the Match for a solid performance up front – keeping his position and supporting his team-mates.
