Sherwood FC 1 – 9 Wollaton Hall
Ep’s lucky scarf and socks didn’t work this morning as the Sherwood parents shivered on the touchline to see Wollaton Hall secure another 3 points. The first half was fiercely fought although virtually all of the action was down the Sherwood end. At half time it was 3-0 with the first goal going in seconds after the opening whistle and the third resulting from an unfortunate goalmouth scramble. If these two errors could have been avoided, then perhaps the second half would have seen more of a fight back. As it was, despite stern words from the manager, Sherwood seemed to lose rather than gain motivation. The pace and passing just weren’t good enough to keep a superior team from blasting six more goals in. But we kept out of double figures and ended with a far better score than we did after our first outing against Wollaton Hall. Kel’s single goal for Sherwood went in just moments before the final whistle.
That’s it now until January. Have a good rest everyone. And don’t pile on the pounds – plenty of opportunity in the New Year to get some more points on the scoreboard.
