Wollaton Hall FC 5 - 1 Sherwood FC
Expectations were high for this match – could Sherwood continue with their unbeaten run and make it 5 in a row?
The game started and it was clear from the outset we would be defending for most of the match as Wollaton started to press early on. The Sherwood defence looked strong with Nico defending well and making some great clearances. There was some great passing play from Sherwood with Luke setting up great chances for Kel and Brandon but unfortunately they couldn’t get through the very strong Wollaton defence. Patrick made some great saves in the first half including a one-handed wonder save, but for all his efforts Wollaton went into half time with a 2-0 lead.
After a couple of changes at half time with Miciah moving into midfield for Jordan and Lex replacing Patrick, the second half continued in the same way as the first with Sherwood defending and looking for the break. A great goal from Charlie was unfortunately disallowed and the passion began to run high. Sherwood pulled one back with a turn and shot from Kel but Wollaton scored a further 3 goals.
Missed chances from either side but a good effort – heads up boys for the cup match next week!
